MOPAWI MOPAWI is a non-profit, civic association whose mission is to facilitate the integrated development of the Honduran Mosquitia, including the conservation and protection of the region's natural resources. It was founded in 1985 and legally incorporated in 1987. The Board of Directors is principally comprised of Miskito and Garifuna leaders from the Mosquitia region. MOPAWI's central offices are located in Puerta Lempira. MOPAWI also has representational offices in Tegucigalpa and La Ceiba, and field offices in Belén, Ahuas, Wampusirpi, Krausirpi and Sico.
