Since 1990, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), governmental organizations and non-governmental organizations have been working together through the Parks in Peril (PiP) program to protect 18.2 million hectares (45 million acres) of imperiled habitats in 45 protected areas in 17 Latin American countries.
